What this guide collects, why, where it is kept, and how to have it changed or removed.
Listings hold what a business already publishes about itself: name, trade, suburb, address, phone number, website, public email, licence number and ABN status. These come from the business's own website and from public registers: the Australian Business Register, the Queensland building licence register and open map data. Nothing on a listing is private.
When you add, claim, fix or ask to remove a listing, we keep the email address and the details you enter so we can verify the request and reply. Verification links stop working after 7 days. Form records are kept for 12 months and then deleted, except the record of a removal, which we keep so the listing stays off. We do not build a marketing list from these forms.
Every email from this guide comes from [email protected]. Owners who claim a listing get emails about that listing only: the confirmation link, the edit link and a note when a change is applied. Any other email goes only to owners who tick the updates box on the claim form, and every one of those carries an unsubscribe link. We never sell or share addresses.
The site sets no advertising or tracking cookies and runs no third party analytics. The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, page requested, browser type) for 30 days for security, then deletes them. Pages are delivered through Cloudflare, which sees the same connection details to protect the site.
The guide is built and run from Buderim, on a server in Germany operated for Coastworks AI. Email is handled by Zoho Mail on Australian servers. Form details and access logs are therefore held overseas, under the safeguards described here. Backups are kept on the same server for 14 days and then overwritten.
Any business owner can correct or remove what the guide holds about their business through the fix form and the removal form, and a removal takes the listing down straight away. Anyone else who finds something about themselves in a listing can use the removal form and say why. The same form is the place to ask what we hold or to raise a complaint, and we reply by email. If you are not satisfied with the answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
